Logistics Thoughts and Improvements after E-commerce Shopping Spree

2022-02-24

According to recent forecasts by the State Post Bureau, during this year's "Double 11" (November 11-16), the industry will handle more than 780 million pieces of mail and express delivery. Hundreds of millions of packages will be delivered to thousands of households through express delivery companies. However, the environmental pollution caused by massive express delivery has also attracted attention from all walks of life. How much garbage will these express packages generate? How much carbon dioxide will be emitted during transportation? In addition, the high cost of express delivery has stimulated the logistics industry chain to seek change, and also forced the entire industry to "turn over a new leaf." Many professionals said: "The development of green logistics is the common responsibility of the whole society."

It is imperative to develop green logistics

For a long time, my country's logistics has been in an extensive development stage. Influenced by the traditional concept of "big and complete, small and complete", most companies build their own logistics, and the utilization rate of logistics resources for their own use is low, and they are not open to the society, resulting in a large amount of idle resources. Waste. Many logistics companies have outdated facilities and equipment, and old warehouses account for 1/4. There are few automated warehouses in three-dimensional warehouses, and there are many old cars and vehicles with excessive emissions, resulting in low energy utilization and air pollution.

With the deterioration of the global environment and increasingly serious resource shortages, this extensive development model with high energy consumption, high emissions, high costs and low efficiency is no longer sustainable. It is urgent to improve the operating level of logistics companies and promote the transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry.

In 2014, the State Council issued the “Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Development of the Logistics Industry”, which proposed to “vigorously develop green logistics” as one of the seven major tasks for the future development of the logistics industry.

New energy and "logistics vehicles" create sparks

Recently, Kuayue Express has purchased thousands of new energy logistics vehicles, including various types of pure electric vans and pure electric tricycles, to form a new energy fleet, achieving pollution-free and zero emissions, and is at the forefront of its peers nationwide in creating green express delivery.

The person in charge of vehicle management at Kuayue Express said: We have roughly calculated the cost and used special charging piles. Generally speaking, a van can be fully charged in 1 hour and a truck can be fully charged in 1 to 2 hours. A full charge can run 150-200 kilometers, which is equivalent to replacing about 10 liters of gasoline. For every liter of gasoline burned in a car engine, 15 liters of fresh air is consumed, and 150 to 200 milliliters of carbon monoxide (CO), 4 to 8 milliliters of hydrocarbons, 4 to 20 milliliters of nitrogen oxides and other pollutants are emitted. We hope to support logistics environmental protection with action!

It is reported that the electric vehicles purchased by Kuayue Express have been used in its branches and outlets in North China, East China and South China, and the number of electric vehicles in these areas will increase, which will play a positive role in promoting green logistics in these areas.

The Ministry of Transport proposed in September last year that the number of new energy urban logistics and distribution vehicles should reach 50,000 by 2020, and that the right to operate urban logistics and distribution vehicles will be given priority to new energy vehicles. Local governments are also accelerating the promotion of electric logistics vehicles, with Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Guangdong, Shanghai and other places launching promotion plans for electric logistics vehicles.

In fact, due to the strong national subsidy policy and the optimistic outlook for the new energy logistics vehicle market, more and more commercial vehicle companies are increasing their production of new energy logistics vehicles.
